It's a common truth that smoking is harmful for health but nevertheless the sad truth is that millions of people go on smoking.

People usually begin smoking as teenagers when it is very important for them to identify themselves in the society and to gain respect and certain status among children of the same age. Unfortunately it is not easy to give up this bad habit.

According to scientists' researches, smoking can be the reason for serious health problems. It affects blood pressure, cardio-vascular system, respiratory tracts and moreover is can be a reason of lung cancer. The majority of those who had heart attacks or strokes used to smoke. Smoking affects all the systems of the organism leading to early ageing.

It's difficult to lead a healthy mode of life having such a habit because unhealthy ingredients of the cigarette make sport activities more tiresome and reduce stamina. People who depend on the cigarette will never feel free. Governments takes various measures to fight against this unhealthy addiction by raising prices on tobacco products, prohibiting selling cigarettes to children under the majority age and banning smoking in public places.

People should be more concerned about their health. It's better to give education and good example to children in order to prevent negative consequences caused by smoking. If certain measures are taken, it can have positive impact on the general health state of the population thus making further generations healthier and setting a good example for them.
